The Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa (EVCO) is excited to announce the launch of the EV Experience along with our partners EnviroCentre, Communauto, SMARTNet Alliance, the Ottawa Community Foundation, Hydro Ottawa, the City of Ottawa, and Natural Resources Canada.
Through EV Experience (EV-X) EVCO volunteers along with EnviroCentre staff are offering EV test drives in both personal vehicles and – soon – Communauto’s new fleet of five Kia Niro EVs which are expected to arrive in Ottawa soon. Look for us (and our trailer!) at upcoming events all across the city offering EV education, mythbusting, answering EV-related questions and, of course, offering test EV drives!

In addition to being at large community events across the region this summer, we will also be running regular Test-Drive Tuesday events – nearly every Tuesday evening – providing even more opportunities for people to try out an EV! The events will take place all over the city so visit the website or follow EVCO on social media (@EVCOttawa) to find out when and were Test-Drive Tuesday events will be taking place near you!
Climate Change is a crisis that is already starting to have a major impact on our lives and communities today. We all need to be taking the climate emergency seriously and transportation emissions account for around a third of Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions. Switching to an electric vehicle is the most impactful and fastest way an individual can reduce their personal GHG emissions while also improving their quality of life. With fuel prices at all time highs there has never been a better time to switch to cleaner, greener, smarter transportation.
At EVCO we know that many dealers do not have electric vehicles available to test drive and that the best way to learn about an EV is to experience it first hand. That is why we’ve partnered with EnviroCentre and others to bring test drives to you! We believe so strongly that electrification is the future of sustainable transportation that our volunteers are willing to share their personal electric vehicles, experience, and knowledge with you through EV Experience!
