Yes, it’s possible to get paid to charge at home! New programs have recently launched for Canadian EV owners.
All of these programs leverage Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR). This is a federal carbon-credit system where companies can sell credits for clean EV charging activities. These programs act as intermediaries: they aggregate homeowners’ charging data to generate carbon credits and share a portion of the revenue with you.
As of July 1, 2026, there are a few different options. All prices are in $CDN and are subject to change. We strongly encourage you to review program terms and conditions. EVCO does not necessarily endorse any particular program.
IMPORTANT RULE: Under CFR regulations, a single charger can only be registered in one carbon reward program per calendar year. Registering the same charger across multiple apps will trigger a duplicate data violation and void your rewards for the entire year!
Our friends at ChargeClub have put together a comprehensive overview of each program on their website.
ChargeClub is an independently maintained directory that compares consumer-facing EV home-charging reward programs — apps and companies that pay you for the electricity you use charging at home, mostly funded through Canada’s Clean Fuel Regulations carbon-credit market.
